Biography
Dr. V. Ashok Rangnath joined Capital Women’s Care in 2006 after eight years of practice in Hagerstown, Maryland. Dr. Rangnath provides expert care in normal pregnancies, high-risk pregnancies, abnormal bleeding, contraception, abnormal Pap tests, and basic infertility to women in Rockville and Silver Spring, Maryland.
He is the former chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital in Germantown, Maryland.
Besides general OB/GYN care, Dr. Rangnath is the practice’s resident expert for pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic floor prolapse, and urinary incontinence. In this role, Dr. Rangnath has considerable experience with the transvaginal tape procedure for treating stress urinary incontinence.
When it comes to surgery, Dr. Rangnath specializes in minimally-invasive surgery, including advanced laparoscopic surgery, advanced hysteroscopic surgery, and advanced vaginal surgery. In fact, he performs most surgeries using a minimally-invasive approach.
Dr. Rangnath earned his MD from the Six-Year Accelerated Honors Program in medical education at the University of Miami. He completed his residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC and is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.
Before coming to Capital Women’s Care, Dr. Rangnath served as the chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Maryland. He also served on the Medical Executive Committee.
Outside of work, Dr. Rangnath enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
